Transport Operations Manager
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Transport Operations Manager to join our growing team!

As our Transport Operations Manager, you'll take responsibility for the day\-to\-day transport operation, compliance, fleet management and driver performance, ensuring our vehicles and deliveries operate safely, efficiently and in line with all legal requirements.
We operate refrigerated (fridge) trailers delivering chicken and food products, so experience within refrigerated transport or food distribution would be highly advantageous. We are also looking to develop our Amazon Relay operation, making previous Amazon Relay experience a strong advantage.
Salary: £40,000 \- £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Working Pattern: \[5 days out of 7 / Monday\-Friday / etc.] Flexibility required
- Managing and coordinating the day\-to\-day transport operation, including drivers, vehicles, trailers and deliveries.
- Ensuring full compliance with Operator Licence requirements, DVSA regulations, driver hours and transport legislation.
- Managing driver compliance, including licence checks, CPC, tachographs, defect reporting and working time requirements.
- Overseeing fleet maintenance, inspections, roadworthiness, MOTs and vehicle defects.
- Planning routes and loads to maximise vehicle utilisation, efficiency and on\-time deliveries.
- Managing and developing drivers, promoting a strong safety and compliance culture.
- Monitoring transport KPIs, costs and operational performance, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Using Microsoft Excel to a high standard for reporting, planning, KPI analysis and operational management.
- Managing relationships with maintenance providers, suppliers, customers and external transport partners.
- Ensuring refrigerated vehicles and trailers are operated correctly and food transport requirements are maintained.
- Supporting the development and management of our Amazon Relay operation.
- Dealing confidently with day\-to\-day operational issues including breakdowns, delays, driver shortages and last\-minute changes.
- Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs and support the continued growth of the business.
- Proven experience in a Transport Manager, Transport Operations Manager or similar role.
- Transport Manager CPC / Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage – essential.
- Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation, DVSA requirements, driver hours and Operator Licence compliance.
- Experience managing drivers, fleet operations and transport planning.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills – essential.
- Strong organisational, communication and problem\-solving skills.
- Commercially aware with a proactive approach to improving operational efficiency.
- Experience with refrigerated/fridge trailers and food distribution is highly desirable.
- Experience transporting chicken, meat, chilled or frozen food would be advantageous.
- Previous Amazon Relay experience is highly desirable.
- HGV licence or previous HGV driving experience would be an advantage.
- Experience with transport management, fleet management or tachograph systems would be beneficial.
Pay: £40,000\.00\-£45,000\.00 per year
