Transport Operations Manager

Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Transport Operations Manager to lead and optimize our transportation functions and improve overall health and safety and HR processes \- reporting into the Transport Manager. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the end\-to\-end logistics operations, ensuring focus is on compliance, safety and cost control. Your leadership will drive process improvements, enhance efficiency, and maintain compliance with industry standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence operational excellence and contribute to the overall success of our logistics network.

Duties

• Supervise transportation staff fostering a high\-performance team environment.


• Monitor costs of wages, fuel and other costs related to transportation operations, identifying areas for cost savings and process optimization.


• Assist the workshop to obtain best prices for parts while minimising downtime on fleet vehicles.


• Implement continuous improvement initiatives utilizing process improvement methodologies to enhance operational workflows.


• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, transportation laws, and company policies across all logistics activities.


• Utilize transportation management systems and other technology tools to track and analyze data, and improve service levels.


• Conduct regular performance reviews of team members and provide coaching to develop skills to logistics best practices.


• Conduct Gate checks and spot checks on vehicles and drivers


• Manage the yard activities


• Develop and review risk assessments, safe working practices, policies and procedures


• Conduct transport related investigations and disciplinaries


• Assist with the audits for FORS, ISO, Safe contractor


• Enhance drivers performance on behaviour factors such as infringements, idling, harsh braking through coaching


• Recruit new drivers and conduct inductions

Qualifications

• Proven supervising experience within transportation or logistics operations.


• Demonstrated ability to lead process improvement initiatives in a fast\-paced environment.


• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams and stakeholders.


• Experience working within a continuous improvement framework to enhance operational efficiency.


• Health and Safety qualification such as NEBOSH advantageous


• Transport Manager CPC advantageous


• Extensive HR knowledge advantageous
