Hours: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Monday to Friday)

Job Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced, highly responsible Transport / Depot Manager with strong leadership skills to head up our Warrington depot. Our business is a specialised recycling company focused on collecting white goods and electronics (primarily fridges, freezers, large domestic appliances and TVs) from various sites. Managing a dedicated fleet of 17 trucks and an on\-site team of approximately 30 operational staff, you will have total operational accountability.

You will be completely responsible for maintaining end\-to\-end fleet compliance, managing daily collection operations, enforcing strict health and safety standards, and fostering a high\-performance culture.

This role requires an early morning start to ensure smooth dispatch and effective management of the fleet's daily launch.

Thesuccessful candidate must hold a valid Transport Manager CPC and will be named on the company's Operator's Licence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strong Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and manage a team of approx. 30 operational staff. Act as the firm, clear authority on\-site—directly responsible for monitoring daily performance, conducting reviews, and handling all disciplinary and grievance procedures.


• O\-Licence \& Fleet Compliance: Take absolute accountability for the fleet in all aspects. Efficiently plan, schedule, and book all routine vehicle servicing, safety inspections, and MOTs to guarantee 100% compliance with all statutory undertakings and regulations.


• Defect Management: Actively manage and resolve all reported truck and fleet defects during the morning launch and throughout the day. Coordinate swiftly with external workshops, ensure all vehicles remain fully roadworthy, and maintain a robust, legally sound audit trail.


• Daily Route Planning: Efficiently plan, schedule, and optimise daily truck collection runs, ensuring maximum resource utilisation, driver hour compliance, and efficient site\-to\-site collections.


• Site Health \& Safety: Enforce, maintain, and take full responsibility for strict health and safety standards across the Warrington depot base and throughout all transport movements.

Requirements \& Qualifications

• Mandatory Qualification: Must hold a valid Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) and be eligible to be named on the company O\-Licence immediately.


• Leadership Capabilities: A proven track record of strong leadership, with the confidence to manage staff behaviour, implement discipline, and drive accountability.


• Truck Fleet Experience: Extensive, demonstrable experience managing a heavy goods vehicle (HGV/truck) fleet.


• Industry Experience: Prior experience managing a similar\-sized truck fleet, site\-collection logistics, or a recycling/waste depot environment is highly advantageous.


• Reliability: Comfortable with a permanent 6:00 AM start time.


• Proximity: Based within a commutable distance of Warrington.
