Transport Contract Manager

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transport Contract Manager to take full responsibility for the management and development of our end\-to\-end transport solution, delivered via our 3PL partners. This crucial role within our Distribution \& Supply Chain function is accountable for an annual transport budget of £15 million and reports directly to the Supply Chain and Distribution Director.
Key Responsibilities:
As Transport Contract Manager, you will be pivotal in ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost\-effective movement of orders to our customers and stock to our stores (circa 12,000 cages and 2000 pallets per week). Your primary accountabilities include:
- Providing full leadership and commercial management of contracts with our 3PL transport partners.
- Driving health and safety compliance and fostering a collaborative safety culture with our partners.
- Developing and evolving the transport solution to align with business growth and our customer service culture.
- Managing the implementation and ongoing operation of the open book contract with our primary carrier.
- Accountability for KPI management across cost, quality of service, and H\&S.
- Controlling the weekly and monthly transport budget and providing performance reports against KPIs.
- Direct line management, development and support of a Logistics Manager and 3 transport administrators
- Liaising with 3PLs to ensure sufficient ongoing capacity and supporting the Continuous Improvement (CI) delivery plan.
- Identifying and proposing mutually beneficial gain share opportunities and managing associated implementation plans.
- Proactively identifying risks to current solutions and developing mitigation proposals.
- Collaborating with key internal stakeholders (DC Managers, Retail Managers) to optimise ways of working for end\-to\-end benefits.
- Managing the tender process in line with contract expiry and renewal periods.
What you'll bring
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Transport and Logistics background.
- Proven experience working with both open and closed book contracts.
- A Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset with a track record of driving efficiencies and improving service.
- Highly motivated, energetic, and positive attitude.
- Excellent proven communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement superior solutions
