Role Overview
The Traffic Marshal is responsible for the safe coordination and control of vehicle movements on construction sites, ensuring the safety of pedestrians, plant operators, drivers, and site personnel. The role requires clear communication, adherence to site traffic management plans, and maintaining a safe working environment at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely direct and manage the movement of vehicles, plant, and delivery vehicles on site.
- Guide drivers using approved hand signals and communication methods in accordance with site procedures.
- Ensure all vehicle movements are carried out safely, particularly during reversing manoeuvres and in restricted areas.
- Maintain designated traffic routes, pedestrian walkways, and exclusion zones.
- Monitor site access and egress points to ensure traffic flows safely and efficiently.
- Carry out daily inspections of traffic management measures, including signage, barriers, cones, and designated routes.
- Ensure drivers comply with site speed limits, traffic management plans, and safety requirements.
- Stop unsafe vehicle movements and report any breaches of site rules immediately.
- Report hazards, accidents, near misses, damaged signage, or any safety concerns to the site supervisor or management.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of the site's traffic management plan.
- Comply with all site health and safety regulations, company procedures, and legal requirements.
- Valid right to work in the UK.
- Valid CPCS A73 Vehicle and Traffic Marshal ticket (or NPORS equivalent with CSCS logo where accepted by the site).
- Safety Critical Medical (may be required depending on site requirements).
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with drivers, plant operators, and site personnel.
- Understanding of construction site traffic management and safe systems of work.
Monday \- Friday 11:00 \- 19:00
