Trade Counter Salesperson
The purpose of a Trade Counter Salesperson is to provide exceptional customer service and generate sales by assisting customers in person at the trade counter. They serve as the main point of contact for customers who visit the company's physical location to make purchases or inquire about products. The primary goal of a Trade Counter Salesperson is to ensure customer satisfaction, build strong relationships, and drive revenue for the business.
The shop operates from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Trade Counter Salesperson is expected to work 8 hours per weekday and complete a 4\-hour shift on two Saturdays per month, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Principal Accountabilities
- Greet and assist customers in a professional and friendly manner at the trade counter.
- Provide product information, technical specifications, and guidance to customers, helping them make informed purchasing decisions.
- Work with our technical team to answer more detailed product and system queries, making sure customers receive accurate specification and installation guidance.
- Handle incoming customer inquiries through various channels (mostly in\-person but sometimes this may be required by phone, email or on our websites chat feature) and address their needs promptly and effectively.
- Process sales orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring correct pricing, quantities, and delivery details.
- Upsell and cross\-sell relevant products to maximise sales opportunities.
- Maintain a well\-organised and visually appealing trade counter, ensuring products are neatly displayed and easily accessible.
- Work with the Warehouse Manager to keep the shop and displays fully stocked, monitoring stock levels and arranging replenishment in good time so customers can always collect what they need.
- Collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure smooth order fulfilment and timely delivery to customers.
- Handle customer complaints or concerns with professionalism and empathy, seeking appropriate resolutions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, fostering long\-term loyalty and repeat business, and help reduce customer churn by spotting lapsed or at\-risk accounts and following up with them.
- Learn new products as they are launched and actively introduce them to customers, while staying up to date with industry trends and competitor offerings.
- Organise and run branch open days and product demonstrations, working with suppliers and the technical team to show installers new and existing products in action.
- Work closely with our Business Development Managers to attract new customers to the branch and build on existing relationships, sharing leads and feedback on customer preferences and market demands.
- Aiding other teams if short staffed when required e.g. logistics team or customer service team.
- Aid with stock takes.
- Ad hoc tasks at the discretion of the manager
