Trade Counter Sales Person – Little Island, Cork

National Electrical Wholesalers (NEW), founded in 1935, is Ireland’s largest independent electrical wholesaler, with an extensive and growing network of branches across the country.

As part of our continued expansion, we are opening a brand\-new branch in Little Island, Cork shortly, and we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and customer\-focused Trade Counter Sales Person to join the new team.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a new branch from the outset and help us establish and grow our presence in the Cork market.

The Role

This is a customer\-facing role where you will be responsible for providing an excellent level of service to our trade customers, developing strong customer relationships and helping to grow sales within the branch.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience within the electrical wholesale industry, electrical trade, builders' merchants or a similar trade counter environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Serving customers at the trade counter in a professional and friendly manner.


• Dealing with customer enquiries by phone, email and in person.


• Preparing quotations and processing customer orders.


• Providing customers with product information and advice.


• Developing strong relationships with existing and new customers.


• Identifying opportunities to increase sales and develop new business.


• Following up on quotations and customer enquiries.


• Liaising with suppliers and other NEW branches regarding stock and product availability.


• Ensuring orders are processed accurately and efficiently.


• Working closely with the Branch Manager and wider branch team to achieve sales and margin targets.


• Helping to establish and develop the new Little Island branch.


• Maintaining a professional, organised and welcoming trade counter environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

• Customer\-focused with a strong sales mentality.


• Friendly, confident and comfortable dealing with customers.


• Commercially aware and motivated to grow sales.


• Organised and able to work effectively in a busy trade counter environment.


• A good communicator with strong interpersonal skills.


• Comfortable using computer\-based sales and stock systems.


• A team player who is also capable of using their own initiative.

Previous experience in electrical wholesale or the electrical industry would be a strong advantage, although candidates with relevant trade counter, merchant or technical sales experience will also be considered.
