Overview

We are seeking a highly organised and detail\-oriented Finance Assistant to support our day\-to\-day finance function, with additional responsibility for coordinating routine HR administration.

Finance will remain the primary focus of the role, covering accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and reconciliations. The successful candidate will also support employee administration, recruitment coordination, training administration and the maintenance of accurate and confidential HR records.

This is a varied, part\-time position suited to someone who is dependable, proactive and comfortable supporting both finance and people\-related processes.

Key Responsibilities Finance

  • Manage accounts receivable, including issuing invoices, monitoring outstanding balances and following up on payments.

  • Process supplier invoices and payments accurately and on time.

  • Process payroll using Sage Payroll, ensuring employee and payroll records are accurate.

  • Maintain financial records using Sage 50 Accounts and ensure transactions are correctly recorded.

  • Perform regular bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies promptly.

  • Assist with month\-end and year\-end financial processes.

  • Support compliance with internal controls and financial procedures.
HR Coordination
  • Act as the first point of contact for routine HR matters and manage the HR inbox.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation.

  • Process annual leave, sick leave, attendance and lateness records, together with associated routine correspondence.

  • Obtain relevant operational information from line managers, review employee records and respond to routine HR matters in accordance with company policies and appropriate guidance.

  • Escalate employee\-relations, disciplinary, exceptional, professional or legal matters that require a management\-level decision.

  • Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding administration.

  • Maintain the employee training matrix and accurate training records.

  • Schedule routine employee training, issue reminders and flag outstanding or expiring requirements. Line managers will remain responsible for identifying operational training needs and ensuring employee attendance.

  • Assist with recruitment administration, including advertising vacancies, arranging interviews and communicating with candidates.

  • Liaise with management, employees and external HR advisers as required.

  • Help ensure that payroll and HR records remain accurate and aligned.

  • Support the coordination and implementation of company policies and procedures.

  • Provide administrative support across other departments as business needs arise.
Skills and Experience
  • At least three years’ experience in a similar finance or accounting role.

  • Experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll processing.

  • Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts and Sage Payroll is advantageous.

  • A good understanding of bank reconciliations and general accounting principles.

  • Previous experience in HR administration or coordination is desirable.

  • Experience maintaining employee training records or coordinating training is advantageous.

  • Strong organisational and time\-management skills.

  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • The ability to handle financial and employee information with discretion and confidentiality.

  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Qualifications
  • A relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance or Business, such as Accounting Technician, part\-qualified accountant status or equivalent practical experience.

  • An HR qualification or relevant HR training would be advantageous but is not essential.
