Telecoms Engineer

Salary: £35,000 \- £40,000 per year dependent on experience.
Location: Field\-based and Office\-based (Burgess Hill)
Hours: Mon–Thu 8:30–17:30, Fri 8:30–17:00
Job Type: Full\-time, Permanent

We are seeking a versatile Telecommunications \& Network Engineer to install, maintain, and troubleshoot smart business infrastructure. You will work across VoIP phone systems, WiFi and network deployments, and CCTV installations.

This is a mostly field\-based role but may require some overnight stays, handling on\-site setups and physical faults. When you are not on the road, you will be based at our Burgess Hill office handling configuration, broadband diagnostics, and remote maintenance.

Responsibilities

On\-Site Installations

  • VoIP Systems: Install, configure, and commission hosted telephone systems and hardware.

  • CCTV Equipment: Deploy commercial and residential IP cameras, NVRs, and associated cabling.

  • WiFi \& Networks: Set up wireless access points and structured cabling for seamless coverage.
Technical \& Remote Maintenance
  • Router Programming: Configure routers, switches, firewalls, and access points to project specs.

  • Remote Support: Manage off\-site hardware maintenance, software updates, and system updates.

  • Office\-Based Support: Handle technical ticketing and remote troubleshooting when not in the field.
Diagnostics \& Fault Finding
  • Broadband Faults: Test, trace, and isolate connectivity issues from the exchange to the local socket.

  • Network Testing: Diagnose LAN/WAN drops and performance bottlenecks using diagnostic tools.
What We're Looking For
  • The Ultimate All\-Rounder: A versatile technician who feels equally comfortable climbing a ladder to mount a CCTV camera, terminating a Cat6 cable, or logging into a portal to program a router.

  • A Sharp Troubleshooter: Someone who enjoys the puzzle of diagnostics, able to logically trace a broadband fault from a dead socket back to the exchange.

  • Autonomous \& Driven: A reliable field engineer who can manage their own day on the road, solve problems independently, and represent our business professionally in front of clients.

  • Adaptable Tech Thinker: An engineer who understands IP networking fundamentals (DHCP, port forwarding, DNS) and can switch easily between physical hardware installations and remote software maintenance.

  • A Great Communicator: A team player who can explain technical fixes simply to an frustrated client, and collaborate smoothly with the team back in the Burgess Hill office.
Essentials
  • Full UK driving licence

  • Knowledge of computers, networking or IT

  • Previous customer service experience.

Starting at £35\.000 \- £40\.000 dependent on experience.
