Job Details
Reporting to the Network Condition Lead Consultant, the Technician role is within the Roads Network Management section of Roads \& Transportation Services, Fife Council.
The main purpose of the role is to provide technical support and assist in the network management of Fife’s roads infrastructure.
Tasks Include
- Investigating and identifying technical solutions for specific roads related problems.
- Preparing technical plans, maps and diagrams relating to the functions of the team including the use of GIS and CAD.
- Maintaining effective control on delegated budgets.
- Researching and preparing reports for the Lead Consultant, working groups or Committees on technical, financial, performance and Service delivery issues.
- Investigating and drafting responses to internal and external customer enquiries and other correspondence.
- You should be educated to SCQF level 5, which includes National 5 or SVQ level 2 or Standard Grades at credit level including Maths and English at level 3 or above, or equivalent
- You should be able to work as part of a team as well as being able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- You must be able to travel across Fife at short notice.
- You should have good numerical skills, be able to prepare cost estimates, contract documentation and manage budgets for small scale projects.
- You should be familiar with the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984, regarding the management and maintenance of roads related structural assets.
