Technical Project Manager (AI)

We build software and websites using AI. We're good at building. We're less good at making sure every project lands on time, at the right quality, without one of the founders babysitting it.

That's the job. You own delivery.

This is our first hire. You'll report directly to the founders and have more scope than you'd get anywhere else at this stage — and more responsibility for whether things actually work.

What you'll do

• Own projects end to end. From brief to shipped. You decide what gets done in what order, you spot when something's slipping, you fix it before anyone has to ask.


• Get the most out of AI tools. Roughly a third of this job is hands\-on: writing and refining the prompts that turn a vague brief into working software. You'll know when the AI has produced something plausible but wrong, and you'll catch it before it reaches a client.


• Be the person things don't get stuck behind. Chase the missing asset, make the call on the ambiguous requirement, unblock the build.


• Bring structure. We don't have much yet. You'll build the process as you go — how we scope, how we estimate, how we hand over.


• Tell us the truth. If a deadline isn't real, we want to hear it early, not the day before.

What you'll have done by month three

• Every live project has an owner, a timeline and a status anyone can see in ten seconds.


• We've shipped at least \[N] projects without a founder doing the coordination.


• There's a written way we do things — even a rough one — that a new person could follow.

What we're looking for

• You've run projects before and got them finished. Agency, startup, in\-house — we don't mind where.


• You're genuinely fluent with AI tools. Not "I've used ChatGPT" — you've built things with them and you know where they break.


• You're comfortable with ambiguity and you don't wait to be told what to do.


• You can write clearly. Most of this job is communication.


• You're technical enough to talk to developers credibly. You don't need to be one.

We're open on seniority. If you're early in your career but sharp and fast, say so. If you've done this for ten years, also say so. The work sample below matters more than the CV.

What this isn't

• It isn't a pure engineering role. You'll be coordinating more than coding.


• It isn't a research job. We care about what ships, not what's theoretically interesting.


• It isn't remote. We're in the office together, rainham, five days a week.


• It isn't a role with a playbook waiting for you. You're writing it.

Pay

£25000–£35000 depending on experience, plus equity. As the first hire, your equity is meaningful — we'll talk openly about the numbers at offer stage rather than being cagey about it.

Pay: £25,429\.54\-£35,124\.28 per year
