Technical Manager - High Performance Computing
Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Engineering division of this Motor Company supporting the development of the next\-generation BEV electrical architecture programmes.
We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager – High Performance Computing (HCP4\) to provide technical leadership across advanced vehicle electrical and electronic systems, supporting the delivery of Bentley’s future luxury electric vehicle platforms.
This role sits within the Body Electronics \& Functions team and will play a key role in cross\-functional engineering delivery, technical strategy, software and systems integration, and VW Group collaboration.
The Role
As Technical Manager – HCP4, you will act as a technical authority across key vehicle electrical systems and support delivery throughout the full product lifecycle — from concept and development through to production and launch.
You will work closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and Group stakeholders to ensure robust and timely system delivery aligned to programme targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical delivery activities for HCP4\-related systems and functions
- Manage component, software and hardware delivery plans across vehicle programmes
- Support system integration, software testing, validation planning and issue resolution
- Work closely with Group teams, interpreting technical specifications and requirements
- Support cross\-functional engineering reviews and programme updates
- Contribute to strategic technical roadmaps and future technology direction
- Coordinate technical activities with suppliers and outsourced engineering teams
- Support vehicle and rig\-based development and testing activities
- Drive process improvement and engineering best practice initiatives
- Present technical updates, risks and status reports to stakeholders and management
- Proven automotive electrical/electronic systems engineering experience
- Experience delivering ECU or electrical systems within an Automotive OEM or Tier 1 environment
- Strong understanding of product development from concept through to production
- Experience working across software, hardware and systems integration activities
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to operate within complex cross\-functional engineering environments
- Experience supporting issue resolution, testing and validation activities
- BEV / PHEV electrical architecture experience
- Exposure to VW Group processes or tools
- Understanding of vehicle coding/configuration systems
- Experience supporting vehicle or rig\-based testing
- German language capability (written or spoken)
- Experience within luxury automotive, aerospace or advanced engineering sectors
- Degree qualified in Electrical, Electronic, Systems or Automotive Engineering (or equivalent)
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership is advantageous
- Hybrid working model – minimum 60% onsite
- European travel required approximately 3–4 times per year
- Full UK driving licence required
