Teaching Assistant
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support children with special educational needs within our inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and specialists to assist pupils, particularly those with ASD and other disabilities, ensuring they receive tailored support to thrive academically and socially. Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning programmes for children with special educational needs, including those with ASD and disabilities.
- Support children’s behavioural, emotional, and social development through positive engagement and encouragement.
- Provide one\-to\-one assistance to pupils, helping them access curriculum activities and daily routines.
- Implement individualised support plans, ensuring each child's specific needs are met effectively.
- Supervise children during classroom activities, breaks, and outings to ensure safety at all times.
- Foster a nurturing environment that promotes confidence, independence, and inclusion among pupils.
- Communicate effectively with children, teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure consistent support strategies are maintained.
- Experience working with individuals with ASD or other disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of special education principles and inclusive teaching practices.
- Proven ability to work effectively with children of various ages.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise confidently with pupils, colleagues, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and adaptability when supporting children with diverse needs.
- Organised approach to managing multiple responsibilities within a dynamic classroom setting.
- Commitment to fostering a positive learning environment that encourages growth and development for all pupils.
- Have a good standad of English and Maths to GCSE level or equivalent.
There is an opportunity for an additional 4 hours per week for another child with an EHCP.
This role is term time only plus 5 INSET days. All holidays are expected to be taken when school is not in session.
