Teaching Assistant - Secondary School Location: Oldham

Contract: Temporary - until October half term
Pay: £95-£110 per day, depending on previous experience

Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking an enthusiastic, reliable and experienced Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Oldham on a temporary basis, starting ASAP and continuing until the October half term.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who has a genuine passion for supporting young people and who can quickly establish positive working relationships with pupils and staff. The successful candidate will become an important part of the school's support team, helping pupils to access learning, develop confidence and make positive progress throughout the school day.

Previous UK Secondary School Experience is Essential Please note: only applicants who have previous experience working within UK secondary schools will be considered for this position.

The school is looking for someone who understands the demands of a secondary-school environment and is confident working with pupils across Key Stages 3 and/or 4. Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs, behavioural challenges or barriers to learning would be highly advantageous.

The Role As a Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils in the classroom to ensure they are engaged and able to access the curriculum.


• Working alongside teachers to provide additional academic and pastoral support.


• Providing one-to-one and small-group intervention where required.


• Helping pupils who may require additional support with their learning, confidence or behaviour.


• Encouraging positive attitudes towards learning and maintaining high expectations.


• Supporting pupils with their organisation, concentration and completion of classroom tasks.


• Building positive and professional relationships with pupils, teachers and other members of staff.


• Providing consistent support in line with the school's behaviour and safeguarding policies.


• Contributing to a calm, inclusive and positive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate The successful Teaching Assistant will:

• Have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role within a UK secondary school.


• Be confident supporting pupils aged 11-16.


• Have a patient, encouraging and approachable manner.


• Be able to build strong professional relationships with pupils.


• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


• Be adaptable and able to respond positively to the changing needs of the school day.


• Be reliable, punctual and committed to providing consistent support.


• Have a good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries within an educational setting.


• Be able to work effectively as part of a wider school team.

Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH or challenging behaviour would be beneficial, although the most important requirement is demonstrable experience within a UK secondary-school setting.
