Marshfield Primary School provides education for pupils between 3 and 11 years of age. There are currently 445 pupils on roll, including 20 full\-time equivalent pupils in the nursery.
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, caring and reliable Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. The role will primarily involve supporting younger pupils, including children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), and working closely with staff to ensure all learners are fully included, supported and able to thrive.
At Marshfield Primary School, our teaching assistants are recognised as enabling adults – adults who nurture and care for our children while also supporting them to become confident, curious and independent learners. We are looking for someone who understands the importance of balancing nurture with high expectations and who can provide calm, consistent and responsive support for pupils with a range of learning, communication, sensory and emotional needs.
This means:*
Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils to ensure they feel safe, valued and ready to learn*
Supporting children with a range of additional learning needs through patient, inclusive and responsive practice*
Working closely with teachers and outside agencies to implement support strategies and personalised approaches*
Responding with creativity, flexibility and compassion to meet the needs of individual learners*
Encouraging children to think for themselves, problem\-solve and develop resilience and independence*
Supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing, communication and regulation needs alongside their learning*
Providing inclusive support that enables every child to participate fully and achieve success
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:*
A nurturing, calm and caring approach to working with children*
Experience of supporting pupils with additional learning needs*
An understanding of inclusive practice and strategies to support children with a range of needs*
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families and staff*
Patience, professionalism, resilience and emotional warmth*
Creativity and flexibility in adapting to pupils’ needs and learning situations
The ability to work effectively as part of a team*
Good communication and interpersonal skills*
A commitment to supporting all children to reach their full potential*
High standards in basic skills*
A love of learning and child development*
The ability to use initiative and respond proactively to situations*
An excellent understanding of safeguarding principles and child\-centred practice
