Actual Salary: £32,916 \- £51,048 (\+ £5,872 TLR 2B)

The staff and Governing Board are seeking to appoint an experienced and highly motivated SENCO with vision and ambition to inspire and lead on the continuing development of the SEND policy and provision across school. The school works with children with moderate and complex needs, providing excellent support to meet their individual needs. You will work alongside experienced staff to create an inclusive learning environment where support is tailored to each child.

Bowlee Park Community Primary School is a 4FE school with over 900 pupils. Our school was inspected by OFSTED in November 2023 and we maintained our ‘Outstanding’ grading in all areas.

Successful candidates will join a very supportive team and be provided with high quality induction, CPD and support.

You will:

  • Determine the strategic development and implementation of the Special Educational Needs (SEN) policy and provision in school

  • Be responsible for the day to day operation of the SEN policy and coordination of specific provision to support individual students with SEN or a disability

  • Have completed/be willing to complete National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordinators, or from September 2024, the NPQ for SENCOs within three years of appointment to post

  • Ensure that the school carries out its statutory responsibilities regarding all students with SEN or a disability

  • Be responsible for the effective assessment of pupils with SEN, planning high quality provision, supporting staff to understand, resource and deliver provision and reviewing progress.

  • Compile and submit requests for education and health care needs assessments and funding for pupils

  • Prepare annual review schedules for pupils with EHCP’s, all related paperwork and lead annual review meetings

  • Support the induction and training of teachers and Teaching Assistants to deliver high quality provision for pupils with SEND

  • Liaise with the Local Authority SEND team and a range of external agencies \- work with key staff from the support services and implement strategies recommended

  • Provide support to parents/carers of pupils with SEND, arrange meetings to discuss SEND support and referrals

  • Be responsible for effective transition through working closely with feeder settings to gather transition and SEND information for EYFS staff and supporting transition for pupils with SEND to high school

  • Be an excellent and inspirational teacher with high expectations of learning and behaviour

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of what constitutes high quality teaching and learning for all pupils

  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and the commitment to work as part of a team
