Reed Education are working with a well-regarded secondary school and sixth form just outside Northampton to appoint a Teacher of Social Sciences from September. This is a chance to join a school where Social Sciences are a valued part of the curriculum and a key feature of the sixth form offer.
The role centres on teaching Sociology at KS4 and KS5, with Criminology at KS5 highly desirable. These subjects attract strong student interest, and the school is keen to appoint someone who can make lessons thought-provoking, relevant, and academically demanding.
The Role
- Teach Sociology across KS4 and KS5
- Deliver Criminology at KS5 (desirable)
- Plan and deliver engaging, discussion-focused lessons
- Support students in developing analytical and evaluative skills
- Contribute to a collaborative and supportive department
- Established sixth form with growing Social Sciences uptake
- Supportive leadership team with a clear academic focus
- Positive learning environment with engaged students
- Commitment to staff development and progression
- QTS desirable, though strong unqualified candidates will be considered
- Experience teaching Sociology and/or Criminology at KS5 preferred
- Ability to inspire interest in topics such as crime, inequality, and social theory
- Strong classroom presence and clear communication skills
