Penguin Leisure is growing – and we're looking for a great person to join our team!

We are a small, independent family\-run swimming pool company based in Devon, providing swimming pool construction, servicing and maintenance to a fantastic range of residential and commercial clients.

We're looking for a Pool Maintenance Engineer to join our growing Service Team, carrying out regular maintenance and servicing visits across London and the Home Counties.

We're particularly interested in hearing from:

  • Experienced Pool Maintenance Engineers looking for their next role

  • Trainees or engineers with some swimming pool experience who are keen to develop their skills

  • Qualified plumbers looking to bring their existing skills into the swimming pool industry
The most important thing to us is having the right attitude. We're looking for someone practical, reliable and personable, who enjoys problem\-solving, takes pride in their work and is willing to learn.

You don't need to know everything about swimming pools already – we can provide training and support to help you develop your knowledge and experience.

The Role

As a Pool Maintenance Engineer, your day\-to\-day work will include:

  • Routine servicing and maintenance of commercial and residential swimming pools and spas

  • Fault finding, diagnosing problems and working towards a first\-time fix

  • Carrying out small works, repairs and plant alterations

  • Opening and closing outdoor swimming pools for the season

  • Attending call\-outs for key clients

  • Testing and assessing pool water chemistry and taking appropriate action

  • Inspecting equipment and plant rooms and identifying potential issues

  • Carrying out site assessments and preparing condition reports to assist the Service Manager with quoting for additional works

  • Building and maintaining excellent relationships with clients

  • Working closely with colleagues, suppliers and manufacturers to resolve issues and expand your technical knowledge
What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Self\-motivated and proactive, with a genuine "can\-do" attitude

  • Practical and confident working with tools and equipment

  • A good problem solver who enjoys getting to the bottom of an issue

  • Reliable, organised and able to work independently

  • Friendly and professional when dealing with customers

  • A good communicator, both verbally and in writing

  • Detail\-oriented and takes pride in doing a job properly

  • Physically fit and able to lift 25kg bags of filter media when required

  • Keen to learn and develop their knowledge of swimming pool equipment and systems
Experience in the swimming pool industry is preferred, but it isn't essential. Plumbing, electrical, mechanical or other relevant engineering experience would also be considered.

An ISPE qualification or equivalent would be an advantage, but we are happy to support the right candidate in undertaking relevant training.

A full clean driving licence is essential.
