Job description
We are seeking a patient, supportive, and encouraging Support Worker to assist an adult male in his late 20s living with R20 Syndrome. He is quiet initially but becomes more open and engaging once he builds trust with someone familiar.
About him
He enjoys a variety of interests and benefits from shared activities and gentle encouragement:
- Watching Formula 1 and rugby
- Drumming (a strong skill and enjoyable activity for him)
- Listening to music and attending disco\-style events
- Playing table tennis
- Previously enjoyed kayaking, and it would be positive to encourage this again, as Croft Farm is nearby
- Looking forward to attending a music festival/camping event
Support needs
- Needs time to build rapport and confidence in social interaction
- May require support initiating conversations and expressing needs
- Dyslexia support, especially when reading instructions or recipes
- Assistance with preparing meals following a structured ketogenic\-style diet (approximately 3 carbs per meal)
- Encouragement to maintain independence in meal planning and cooking with appropriate guidance
- Awareness of specialist nutritional supplements delivered via Nutricia and Vitaflo
- Calm, reliable, and patient approach
- Interest in sport, music, or outdoor activities is beneficial
- Able to encourage independence while providing clear, practical support
- Experience supporting individuals with communication difficulties or learning differences is an advantage
