Support Worker

Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential care and assistance to individuals in need, including seniors and those with specific health conditions. Your support will enhance their quality of life, ensuring they receive the care they deserve in a safe and nurturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily living activities, including cleaning, meal preparation, social visits and shopping calls.


• Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive and encouraging atmosphere.


• Support clients with mobility and transportation needs, including driving them to appointments or social activities when necessary.


• Maintain accurate records of client progress and report any changes in health or behaviour to the appropriate healthcare professionals.


• Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care for clients in nursing homes or assisted living facilities.


• Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote mental stimulation and social interaction.


• Uphold the dignity and respect of all clients while adhering to confidentiality protocols.

• Previous experience in patient care or senior care is preferred, particularly in settings such as nursing homes or assisted living facilities.


• A background in nursing or relevant health qualifications would be advantageous.


• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.


• Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others are essential traits for this role.


• Knowledge of dementia care practices is beneficial but not mandatory; training will be provided.


• Ability to drive is required for transporting clients as needed; a valid driving licence is essential.


• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends if necessary.
