Summary

Under general direction, the Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimising all supply chain activities, including procurement, inventory management, and supplier performance. The role ensures materials, products, and services are available to support business requirements while maintaining cost efficiency, quality standards, and operational excellence.

The Supply Chain Manager will develop and implement strategies to improve supply chain performance, reduce risks, and strengthen supplier relationships. The position requires strong leadership skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal departments and external partners. All functions must be performed in accordance with established company policies, quality standards, safety requirements, and regulatory obligations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Supply Chain Strategy \& Planning

  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies that support business objectives and operational requirements.

  • Lead the Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (S\&OP) process to balance demand, inventory, production capacity, and procurement activities.

  • Monitor supply chain performance through KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including supplier dependency, material shortages, transportation disruptions, and market fluctuations.

  • Develop contingency plans to ensure business continuity.
Procurement \& Supplier Management
  • Oversee procurement activities to ensure materials and services are sourced competitively and delivered on time.

  • Lead supplier selection, qualification, onboarding, and performance management processes.

  • Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, service levels, and commercial terms with suppliers.

  • Establish and maintain strategic supplier partnerships to improve reliability, quality, and cost performance.

  • Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
Inventory \& Materials Management
  • Ensure effective inventory planning and control to maintain required stock levels while minimizing excess inventory.

  • Review inventory trends, stock accuracy, and material availability to support production schedules.

  • Lead inventory optimization initiatives and annual stock counts.

  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective measures.
Leadership \& Team Development
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and development opportunities for supply chain team members.

  • Set departmental objectives and performance targets.

  • Conduct performance reviews and support employee development plans.

  • Promote a collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Reporting \& Compliance
  • Develop and maintain supply chain reports and performance metrics.

  • Present supply chain performance updates and recommendations to senior management.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, environmental requirements, and health \& safety regulations.

  • Maintain accurate records relating to procurement, inventory, supplier performance, and compliance activities.

  • Support audits and certification requirements, including FSC and other industry standards where applicable.
General Responsibilities
  • Follow and promote safe working practices and report hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and suggest process enhancements.

  • Maintain professional relationships with employees, suppliers, and customers.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education And/Or Experience
  • Degree, HND/HNC, or equivalent qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or related discipline.

  • CIPS Level 5 or above preferred.

  • Minimum 7\-10 years of supply chain, procurement, logistics, or operations experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of leadership or management experience.

  • Strong ERP/MRP system experience.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting skills.

  • Proven experience in supplier negotiations, contract management, and inventory optimization.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross\-functional teams and drive process improvements.

  • Strong analytical, problem\-solving, and decision\-making skills.

  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.

  • Strong commercial and financial awareness.
Physical Demands

The physical demands are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of the role. Occasional visits to production, warehouse, and supplier facilities may be required. Employees may occasionally lift materials or products up to 25kg in accordance with health and safety guidelines.

Work Environment

The work environment is a combination of office and manufacturing operations. The noise level is generally moderate but may increase when visiting production or warehouse areas.
