Supplies Assistant
We are seeking a Supplies Assistant to support the efficient operation of our medical laboratories across multiple sites throughout Essex, this includes Basildon Hospital, Southend Hospital, and Pathology First HUB.
As a Supplies Assistant, you will assist with the management of supplies for medical laboratories across multiple sites, including raising purchase orders, receiving and unpacking deliveries, recording and labelling items, shelving stock, and supporting regular stock counts. The role requires a practical, hands\-on approach and involves frequent manual handling activities, including lifting, carrying and moving stock, as well as using pallet trucks and roll cages to transport supplies safely around the laboratory sites. The role also involves assisting with the management and disposal of laboratory waste and supporting sterilisation processes in accordance with laboratory procedures and safety standards.
To collect from hospital stores, and accept from couriers, deliveries of laboratory supplies. Unpack, and distribute to the appropriate laboratories and storage areas.
To receipt stock into the computer using the inventory management software, print labels and label items to enable tracking.
To assist in recording stock consumption by scanning items into the inventory management system.
Monitor stock levels and place orders for supplies accurately and in good time using the inventory management system.
To escalate any issues to the supervisor or manager to investigate and resolve problems with orders and supplies.
To replenish stocks from main laboratory stores to several locations, including departments, wards, cupboards, fridges and phlebotomy trolleys, and to receive orders, pick pack and dispatch goods to community locations.
To maintain levels of blood culture packs, ensuring there are adequate packs made up to meet demand.
To ensure laundry (dirty laboratory overalls) is prepared for collection; unpack and distribute clean laundry.
To collect and segregate bagged laboratory waste into the appropriate bins.
Responsible for cleaning and/or housekeeping tasks as needed, including removing clinical and other waste.
Will be expected to complete any other tasks commensurate with the job role.
Working schedules per rota Monday – Friday, we require flexibility, but standard shifts are 8am\-4pm.

The salary for this part\-time position will be paid on a pro rata basis to reflect the contracted hours.
