With over 50 years of industry experience, Dowhigh Ltd is undergoing a sustained period of growth. Working with clients from the Public and Private sector, we deliver Civil Engineering projects from £1m – £10m and manage reactive maintenance contracts across the Northwest of England.
Based out of our Head Office in Bootle, Liverpool, our team of over 90 employees and 200 subcontractors deliver expert services to our existing clients whilst welcoming new clients.

The Role
You will carry out daily site visits and audits, reporting into the senior site engineers. Working within all areas of the business, our summer placement gives you the opportunity to understand the breadth of the business and the opportunities the sector holds for you.
Travel within the Northwest is a requirement of the placement where you will experience and benefit from a wide range of projects and works.
Responsibilities
- Undertaking surveys and setting out on site
- Preparation of quality control and compliance requirements for Civil Engineering
- Co\-ordinate with all parties, e.g engineers, subcontractors and other parties to ensure work is completed to agreed specifications
- Monitor and report progress to ensure KPI’s are met
- Liaise with Quantity Surveyors to manage costs and quantities of required materials.
- Liaise with Stakeholders ranging from senior management to local residents.
- Ensure Health \& Safety and sustainability policies and legislation is adhered to.
- Working towards a Civil or Construction Management Degree
- Demonstrate a keen interest and understanding of engineering.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Able to work both as part of a team and independently
- Hold a full manual driving licence
- Placement term: 8 – 10 weeks
- Hours of work: Monday – Friday, 8\.00am – 5\.00 pm
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (pro\-rata)
