MAH Steel is looking to introduce a new role within our business for an Intermediate\-Level Structural Steel Site Surveyor / Advance Steel Designer.
We are looking for someone with a good understanding of structural steel fabrication and detailing who is confident carrying out site surveys, taking accurate measurements and converting site information into accurate drawings for fabrication.
This is a combined site and drawing office role. The successful candidate should be comfortable attending sites independently and then taking responsibility for producing the required steelwork drawings.
Main Responsibilities
- Attend construction sites and carry out accurate site surveys and measurements.
- Read and understand structural engineer and architectural drawings.
- Understand structural steel sections, connections and fabrication requirements.
- Identify discrepancies between drawings and actual site conditions.
- Convert site measurements and survey information into accurate steelwork drawings.
- Produce and amend drawings using Autodesk Advance Steel.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or Tekla Structures would also be beneficial.
- Produce clear information suitable for our fabrication workshop and installation teams.
- Work closely with our drawing office, estimating, fabrication and management teams.
- Communicate with clients, builders and site teams where required.
- Intermediate or higher level experience with Autodesk Advance Steel.
- Previous experience in structural steel detailing, fabrication or site surveying.
- Good practical understanding of how structural steel is fabricated and installed.
- Confident carrying out site measurements independently.
- Ability to turn site measurements into accurate fabrication drawings.
- Ability to read structural engineering and architectural drawings.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to identify potential problems before steelwork reaches fabrication or site.
- AutoCAD and/or Tekla experience would be an advantage.
- Full UK driving licence required.
As this is a new position within MAH Steel, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of the site surveying and detailing process and help develop the role within the business.
