Logistics/Stores Controller

• Annual Salary: £30,000 - £35,000

We are seeking a Logistics/Stores Controller to manage the efficient receipt, storage, control, and distribution of materials, components, and finished goods. This role is crucial for ensuring inventory accuracy, maintaining stock levels, coordinating logistics activities, and supporting operational requirements while adhering to company procedures and safety standards.

Day-to-day of the role:

Stores Management

• Receive, inspect, and record incoming goods and materials.


• Ensure all items are stored safely and appropriately.


• Maintain accurate inventory records using ERP or stock control systems.


• Define min/max requirements and kanban where appropriate.


• Adopt supermarket principles and systems for runners and repeaters.


• Conduct regular stock counts and cycle counts.


• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.


• Monitor stock levels and initiate replenishment requests when required.


• Control access to stores and maintain security of inventory.

Logistics Coordination

• Coordinate inbound and outbound deliveries.


• Arrange transport and shipping activities with suppliers and carriers.


• Prepare shipping documentation and delivery notes.


• Track shipments and resolve delivery issues.


• Liaise with production, purchasing, suppliers, and customers to ensure material availability.

Inventory Control

• Maintain stock accuracy and inventory integrity.


• Monitor slow-moving, obsolete, and excess stock.


• Generate inventory and logistics reports.


• Support inventory audits and compliance requirements.


• Implement continuous improvements in stock control processes.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with company health and safety procedures.


• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe storage environment.


• Operate material handling equipment safely and in accordance with regulations.


• Adhere to quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in stores, warehouse, logistics, or inventory control.


• Knowledge of stock management principles and inventory systems.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.


• Experience using ERP/MRP systems.


• Strong organisational and planning skills.


• Forklift licence/certification (desirable).


• Supply chain or logistics qualification (desirable).


• Experience in manufacturing or production environments (desirable).
