Steel Estimator - Quantity Surveyor

Owen Fabrications Ltd, a well\-established structural steel fabrication company based in West London (Greenford), is seeking an Estimator / Quantity Surveyor at all levels with experience or interest in structural steelwork, steel fabrication, and construction projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in pricing, tendering, cost control, and securing structural steel and metalwork projects across commercial and industrial sectors throughout the UK.

The successful candidate will support the Senior Estimator and commercial team in the day\-to\-day management of tenders and projects, carrying out both pre\-contract estimating and post\-contract quantity surveying duties. The role will involve managing projects from initial enquiry and tender stage through to final submission and commercial completion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates, quotations, and tender submissions for structural steel and fabrication projects


• Review drawings, specifications, BOQs, and tender documents to assess project scope and requirements


• Carry out quantity take\-offs and material scheduling


• Assist with cost planning, budgeting, valuations, and commercial reporting


• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, clients, and internal departments to obtain pricing and technical information


• Monitor project costs and identify value engineering and cost\-saving opportunities


• Support procurement and subcontractor package management


• Ensure tenders and commercial activities comply with client requirements and company procedures

Requirements

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Commercial Management, or related discipline


• Previous experience in estimating, quantity surveying, or commercial management within construction or structural steelwork preferred


• Knowledge of steel fabrication processes, structural steel materials, and current market rates advantageous


• Ability to read technical drawings and specifications


• Experience using Microsoft Office and CAD software beneficial


• Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills


• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail


• Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to deadlines
