Your Role
START is part of the Healthy Stockport family of services and is a main point of contact to access behaviour change support and services (including smoking, physical activity, weight management, healthy eating, and drugs and alcohol). Referrals are received from residents and professionals daily over the phone, by direct email and through our online form.
The role of the START adviser is to respond to referrals and conduct welcome/initial triages for new clients. They give very brief advice across a wide range of lifestyle issues and support clients to other services where needed. Where substance misuse is identified as a need, they provide immediate information, advice and support (including harm reduction advice) and ensure any urgent healthcare needs are met.
About You
The ideal person for this role will have understanding about the key challenges people face when seeking lifestyle change and substance misuse support. You will have an empathetic non\-biased and non\-judgmental approach when talking with residents. You will have good communication skills and be able to communicate with a wide variety of people including GPs, social workers, other professionals and members of the public. You will be self\-motivated and able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines. You will have a good telephone manner and be confident using IT systems to collate and record information.
