At Bandrum Nursing Home, nursing is about much more than clinical tasks. It is about providing safe, skilled clinical, trauma informed care while taking the time to understand each resident as an individual.

As one of our Staff Nurses, you will combine strong clinical practice with a genuine person\-centred approach, helping our residents to receive safe, effective and compassionate care each day.

You will have the opportunity to use your clinical judgement, manage residents’ nursing needs, respond to changes in residents’ health and provide guidance and support to the wider team.

THE ROLE

No two days in care are exactly the same.

As a Staff Nurse, you will work autonomously within your professional scope of practice while working closely with the Charge Nurse, Care Home Manager and the wider team.

This will include:

• Assessing residents’ nursing and care needs


• Developing, implementing and reviewing person\-centred care plans


• Managing residents with a range of clinical and complex care needs


• Monitoring residents’ conditions and responding appropriately to changes


• Administering and monitoring medication safely


• Undertaking clinical procedures within your competence and scope of practice


• Maintaining clear and accurate clinical records


• Communicating effectively and sensitively with residents and their families


• Liaising with GPs and other health and social care professionals


• Providing clinical guidance and support to the wider care team


• Delegating tasks appropriately and supporting colleagues in the delivery of safe care


• Deputising for the Charge Nurse where required, taking responsibility for operational issues


• Supporting and leading the Care Team – Nursing Assistants, Senior Care Assistants, Dining Assistants and Care Assistants


• Maintaining your own continued professional development and NMC revalidation requirements


• Working in accordance with the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) Code, Health and Social Care Standards and Bandrum’s policies and procedures

There will also be difficult days as working in care can involve supporting residents and families through challenging and emotional situations. You will always have colleagues around you, and teamwork is an important part of how we provide care.

ABOUT YOU

Clinical knowledge and professional experience are essential for this role but so are the values that you will bring to our team.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

You will:

• Be a First Level Registered Nurse with a minimum of 1 year post registration experience


• Be educated to degree level or working towards


• Be a registered member with the National Midwifery Council (NMC)


• Hold a valid PVG Scheme membership


• Be able to practise safely and independently within your professional scope


• Have the clinical knowledge and competence required to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate nursing care


• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills


• Be able to maintain accurate clinical records


• Demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development and NMC revalidation


• Be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team


• Be flexible in your working approach to meet the needs of residents and the service

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

It would be helpful if you already have:

• Previous experience within a care environment


• Previous experience supporting residents with complex care needs


• Previous experience using electronic care planning or clinical record systems

NEWLY QUALIFIED?

That does not necessarily rule you out.

We are happy to consider applications from newly qualified Registered Nurses who have a minimum of 1 year post registration experience. If you are newly qualified, mentoring and support will be provided to help you build your confidence, clinical knowledge and experience within the role.
