An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join the Radiology team within the Day Intervention Unit (DIU) at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist skills within a highly supportive and innovative multidisciplinary team delivering a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic interventional radiology procedures. The successful candidate will work closely with Consultant Radiologists, Radiographers, Nursing Staff and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide safe, effective and high\-quality patient\-centred care.
The Interventional Radiology service provides a diverse range of minimally invasive image\-guided procedures including vascular and non\-vascular interventions, angioplasty, stenting, nephrostomy insertion, biopsies, drainages, line insertions and diagnostic fluoroscopy procedures. The role involves caring for both day case and inpatient populations within a fast\-paced acute environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care throughout the patient pathway including admission, preparation, monitoring during procedures, recovery and discharge. You will also assist during procedures as a scrub or circulating nurse, monitor sedated patients and maintain patient safety within radiation\-controlled areas.
This role requires excellent communication, clinical judgement and organisational skills together with the ability to work effectively under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of patient care and safety. The post holder will frequently work within fluoroscopy environments and must be able to tolerate prolonged standing whilst wearing lead protective equipment.
The Day Intervention Unit comprises several specialities including Interventional Radiology, Endoscopy, Day Surgery and the Surgical Elective Admissions Lounge (SEAL). There will be opportunities to develop skills and knowledge across these areas depending on service requirements.
We are looking for a nurse who is enthusiastic, adaptable and committed to delivering high standards of compassionate care within a technically demanding clinical environment. Previous acute nursing experience is essential and experience within Interventional Radiology, theatres, surgical or medical acute care environments would be advantageous.
You should have:
Current NMC First Level Registered Nurse registration
Relevant post\-registration experience in an acute clinical setting
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to prioritise workload and respond effectively to changing clinical situations
Commitment to continuing professional development and evidence\-based practice
An interest in developing specialist skills within Interventional Radiology
