SPORT SCIENTIST INTERNSHIP

Feyenoord offers an exciting full\-time Sports Science Internship within the First Team Performance Department. This opportunity is open to ambitious Master’s students from across the EU who want to combine academic excellence with the daily reality of elite football. As a researcher practitioner, you will be fully embedded in our performance environment on a full\-time basis, working closely with our performance, medical and data teams. Flexibility is provided for visits to your university whenever needed for academic obligations. A key focus of this internship is the successful completion and publication of your Master’s thesis, using high level club data to contribute to both your academic development and Feyenoord’s performance strategy.

What you will do

• Support the setup and execution of daily monitoring processes for training and match loads;


• Assist in collecting, processing and interpreting physical performance data across the First Team environment;


• Contribute to the planning and delivery of physical performance testing and athlete profiling using elite level technologies such as force platforms and timing systems;


• Maintain accurate data workflows including daily input, cleaning and quality control to ensure reliable dashboards for key stakeholders;


• Translate complex datasets into clear and actionable insights for coaching, performance and medical staff;


• Collaborate closely with performance, medical and data teams as part of the daily training ground operations;


• Dedicate structured time to applied research for your Master’s thesis, using club data to address a practical performance challenge identified within the First Team context.

Who you are

• You are currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Sports Science, Human Movement Sciences, Data Science or a related field at a university within the EU;


• You have a strong interest in data monitoring, visualization and periodization within elite sport;


• You work in an evidence based and analytical manner and are comfortable handling complex datasets;


• Experience with data analysis tools such as R is an advantage;


• You are proactive, innovative and able to identify opportunities to add value;


• You thrive in a high performance environment and are a true team player;


• You communicate clearly and confidently in an international football setting.
