Job Summary

We are excited to be recruiting a new Band 4 Speech and Language Therapy Assistant Practitioner to join our Adult SLT service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This is a newly developed role within our service, designed to strengthen support across pathways where clinical need spans both acute inpatient care and Head \& Neck cancer pathways.
The post holder will work closely with Speech and Language Therapists to deliver highquality care for patients with complex dysphagia and communication needs, supporting rehabilitation across acute wards and specialist cancer services. The role includes management of a delegated caseload, delivery of therapy programmes, and contribution to service development and education.
In addition to clinical responsibilities, the post holder will undertake a range of essential administrative and organisational duties. These will include maintaining accurate clinical records, coordinating appointments, supporting data collection and audit activity, preparing therapy resources, and ensuring smooth communication across multidisciplinary teams. Given the breadth of the service, strong administrative capability will be a key component of the role.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced assistant looking to develop into a more autonomous role within a specialist and evolving area of practice.

The post holder will join a highly supportive and innovative Speech and Language Therapy Service comprising 34wte SLTs serving ENT/Maxillofacial/Head and Neck, Neurosciences, Acute Medicine including complex airways and Outpatients. What you will bring to the role

You will:
- Have experience at Band 3 level (or equivalent) within a healthcare setting
- Have experience or a strong interest, in supporting patients with dysphagia and/or communication needs in acute or complex care environments
- Be confident working independently within delegated responsibilities, recognising when to escalate
- Demonstrate an ability to work across pathways and manage competing clinical priorities
- Have experience supporting or delivering training and education
- Be committed to ongoing development within a specialist clinical area
