Do you want to help students unlock their academic potential and overcome learning barriers?

Randstad Student Support is seeking qualified, enthusiastic Specialist Study Skills Tutors to work with students across Scotland. In this rewarding role, you will provide essential, one-to-one support to students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs)-such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, or ADHD-empowering them to develop the lifelong study habits they need to succeed.

About the Role As a Specialist Study Skills Tutor, your focus is on how a student learns, rather than what they learn. You won't be teaching subject-specific course content; instead, you will introduce highly personalised strategies that help students process information, manage workloads, and demonstrate their true knowledge in assignments and exams.

Key Responsibilities: • Deliver tailored, 1-to-1 study skills sessions to students with dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, or other neurodivergent learning profiles.

  • Teach practical strategies for academic reading, advanced essay structuring, note-taking, and critical thinking.

  • Help students improve their executive functioning skills, including time management, organisation, and revision planning.

  • Introduce and guide students in using assistive technology (such as text-to-speech software or mind-mapping tools).

  • Foster independence and confidence, helping students recognise their unique academic strengths.

  • Maintain accurate, confidential tracking of student progress via Randstad's online portal.

What We Are Looking For Because this is a specialised role funded through Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA), candidates must hold specific, recognised qualifications and professional memberships to support students with SpLDs.

Essential Criteria: • Qualifications: A teaching qualification or an advanced qualification in holding a specific focus on SpLDs/Dyslexia (e.g., a postgraduate certificate/diploma in assessing or teaching learners with SpLDs).

  • Experience: Proven experience teaching or supporting neurodivergent learners, preferably in a further or higher education setting.

  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, adaptability to different learning styles, and a positive, encouraging approach.

Why Work with Randstad? • Highly Competitive Pay: £28.00 per hour, plus accrued holiday pay.
  • Flexibility: Build a timetable that suits your lifestyle, working around college semesters and your existing commitments.

  • Fulfillment: Watch students transform from feeling overwhelmed to feeling confident and capable.

  • Support: Access dedicated consultant guidance and straightforward digital platforms to easily manage your bookings.

How to Apply If you have the professional credentials and a passion for making education accessible to all learners in Scotland, we would love to hear from you.
