Are you looking for a highly rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference in a student's academic journey?

Randstad Student Support is seeking dedicated and empathetic Specialist Mentors to work with students across Scotland. In this role, you will provide essential, one-to-one support to students experiencing mental health difficulties or conditions on the autism spectrum, helping them overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

About the Role As a Specialist Mentor, you will act as a supportive peer and trusted guide. Rather than teaching subject content, your focus is on helping students develop the vital life skills, organization, and coping strategies they need to navigate college life independently.

Key Responsibilities: • Provide tailored, 1-to-1 mentoring sessions to students with disabilities, mental health conditions, or autism spectrum conditions.

  • Help students manage their academic workload by developing skills in time management, goal setting, and organization.

  • Introduce coping strategies to help students manage stress, anxiety, and concentration issues.

  • Encourage independence, self-advocacy, and confidence in an academic environment.

  • Maintain accurate, confidential records of sessions and student progress via Randstad's online portal.

Essential Criteria: • Qualifications: A degree or professional qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, or Education).
  • Professional Membership: Registration with a recognized professional body is highly advantageous or required (such as BACP, COSCA, NMC, HCPC, or UMHAN) is preferred but not compulsory.

  • Experience: Previous experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions, learning difficulties, or autism (ideally in an educational setting).

  • Skills: Exceptional listening and communication skills, patience, and a non-judgmental approach.

Why Work with Randstad? • Highly Competitive Pay: £28.00 per hour, plus accrued holiday pay.
  • Flexibility: Choose hours that fit around your existing commitments, matching standard college semesters.

  • Impact: See the direct, positive impact of your support on a student's confidence and future.

  • Support: Access to dedicated consultant support and streamlining tools to manage your bookings.

How to Apply If you have the passion, qualifications, and experience to empower students in Scotland, we would love to hear from you.
