About Spaghetti Maths West London
Spaghetti Maths West London provides fun, engaging and confidence\-building maths activities for children across West London.
The business is currently focused on after\-school maths clubs for primary school children and is already established, with relationships across around 15 schools and annual turnover typically ranging from £25,000 to £40,000\.
There is also scope to grow the area by developing additional services such as school workshops, maths\-themed birthday parties, holiday clubs, toddler and early years maths groups, one\-off events and local partnerships.
We are now looking for a highly motivated, hands\-on freelance operator to take over the day\-to\-day running and development of the area.
This is not a standard employed management role. It is best suited to someone entrepreneurial who would like to run an existing education business without starting completely from scratch, while having the freedom to develop new income streams.
The Role
The Freelance Operator / Education Business Manager will take responsibility for running Spaghetti Maths West London day to day.
This includes managing existing school relationships, recruiting new schools, coordinating and delivering clubs, recruiting session leaders, handling parent and school communications, managing costs and ensuring sessions run smoothly.
The successful candidate will need to be willing to deliver clubs themselves, especially during handover, launch periods, staff shortages, cover situations or where this makes commercial sense.
This role is ideal for someone who is practical, commercially minded and happy to be hands\-on with both business operations and children’s session delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Running Existing Clubs
\- Maintain relationships with current partner schools
\- Coordinate termly club schedules
\- Liaise with schools regarding dates, rooms, registers and arrangements

\- Keep accurate records of sessions, attendance, staffing and communications
Delivering Clubs Personally
The Freelance Operator / Education Business Manager will be expected to run Spaghetti Maths sessions themselves where needed.
This may include launching new clubs, covering staff absence, supporting new session leaders, or running regular sessions until additional leaders are recruited.
Responsibilities include:

\- Creating a positive, encouraging environment where children feel confident to take part
\- Following Spaghetti Maths session plans, activities and safeguarding procedures
\- Managing behaviour calmly and professionally
\- Taking registers and ensuring children are safely dismissed according to school procedures
\- Acting as a strong role model for other session leaders
\- Stepping in at short notice where reasonably possible to ensure clubs continue to run smoothly
Recruiting and Managing Session Leaders
\- Recruit suitable session leaders as needed
\- Advertise roles and screen applicants
\- Interview, onboard and support new leaders
\- Ensure session leaders are suitable for working with children
\- Arrange rotas and session cover
\- Monitor quality, reliability and professionalism
\- Ensure session leaders understand expectations, safeguarding requirements and club procedures
School Recruitment and Partnerships
\- Identify and approach new primary schools in West London
\- Contact headteachers, school business managers, after\-school club coordinators and PTA contacts
\- Present the benefits of Spaghetti Maths clubs clearly and confidently

\- Holiday clubs
\- Toddler and early years maths groups
\- One\-off events
\- Local community partnerships
The Freelance Operator / Education Business Manager will be encouraged to explore these opportunities where commercially viable. This could include testing new formats, building relationships with venues and schools, promoting sessions locally, and developing additional income streams alongside the core after\-school club programme.
Commercial and Operational Responsibility
\- Manage the business in a cost\-conscious and commercially sensible way
\- Work within the agreed revenue\-share structure
\- Keep clear records of turnover, costs and payments
\- Manage agreed operating costs, including staffing, cover, travel, local marketing and materials
\- Make practical decisions about staffing, delivery and growth
\- Report regularly to the area owner on activity, income, costs and key issues
\- Help decide which opportunities are commercially viable and worth pursuing
Commercial Arrangement
This is a freelance, self\-employed role offered on a revenue\-share basis.
The successful candidate will receive 75% of turnover generated by Spaghetti Maths West London.
From this 75%, they will be responsible for covering the agreed operating costs of running the clubs. These may include session leader payments, cover staff, travel, local marketing, recruitment activity, printing, materials, resources and other agreed delivery costs.
The remaining 25% of turnover will cover the 12% franchise fee and the area owner’s retained share.
Current annual turnover is approximately £25,000–£40,000 across around 15 schools. Earnings will therefore depend on how efficiently the clubs are operated, how much delivery the operator undertakes personally, and how successfully the area is retained and grown.
This arrangement is designed for someone who wants meaningful ownership of the day\-to\-day running of an existing small education business, with the opportunity to benefit directly from maintaining and growing turnover.
Trial Period
The role will begin with an initial one\-term trial period, expected to be approximately three months.

Continuation beyond the trial period will be subject to mutual agreement.
