Software Engineer
We are looking for a Software Engineer to develop and maintain business applications and support ongoing improvements to our technology environment.
You will work with other developers, product colleagues, testers, and technical teams to deliver software that is reliable, maintainable, and suitable for day\-to\-day business use.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software applications based on agreed requirements.
- Build new features and make improvements to existing systems.
- Write clear, maintainable, and well\-tested code.
- Investigate software defects and resolve technical issues.
- Work with APIs, databases, and external services where required.
- Participate in code reviews and follow agreed development standards.
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests.
- Use Git and established version\-control practices.
- Support application releases and production changes.
- Monitor application issues and assist with troubleshooting.
- Work with product and business teams to understand technical requirements.
- Maintain development documentation and technical notes.
- Assist with system upgrades and technology projects.
- Contribute to improvements in development processes and software quality.
- Follow company requirements relating to security, data protection, and change management.
- Previous professional experience in software development or software engineering.
- Good knowledge of at least one programming language such as Java, C\#, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
- Experience developing web applications, APIs, backend services, or business systems.
- Good understanding of relational databases and SQL.
- Familiarity with Git and collaborative development practices.
- Experience debugging and testing software.
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle.
- Good analytical and problem\-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage development tasks and work to agreed deadlines.
- Familiarity with cloud services, Docker, or CI/CD is useful but not essential.
- Relevant degree, technical qualification, or equivalent professional experience.
- Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Occasional additional support may be required during planned releases or important project deadlines.
