At Axle Energy, we’re building the infrastructure that will underpin the decarbonised energy system. Our software moves energy usage to times when electricity is cheap and green, by controlling vehicle charging, heating systems, and home batteries. We control hundreds of thousands of energy assets.

We’re building in a legacy industry and moving gigawatt\-hours of electrons in the real world, but we operate at lightning speed, and we’re growing the team to meet customer demand.

About the role
------------------

Software Engineers at Axle build the core infrastructure for connecting to distributed energy devices, orchestrating them, and allowing them to participate in electricity markets.

This is a generalist Software Engineering role, encompassing product\-engineering, devops, and data engineering. We encourage engineers to own as much of the problem\-space as they can: you’ll spend time talking to clients, getting feedback from users, and working closely with market operators.

At Axle, we work in a deliberately flat structure. That means fewer layers, faster decisions, and more ownership for everyone.

• Forming a deep understanding of the domain \& the business, so you have enough context to execute independently at speed


• Focusing on outcomes, not process, and taking ownership for the end product you ship into the world


• Managing your own time and those of others to adapt to changing scope and deadlines, delivering 80% of the value in 20% of the time

We build in Python \+ React for the frontend

Everything we build lives in Docker, for minimal cross\-platform faff and maximal reproducibility.

Unlimited Claude Code tokens \- we are aggressive users and explorers of AI, and encourage everybody to reconsider their workflows regularly
