Social Media Marketing
We are looking for someone who can do more than make a nice Instagram post.
We are looking for someone who can get Pittagoras.
Someone who understands that Greek food is only part of the story.
Someone who can look at a restaurant, a plate of food, a room full of people, a Greek grandmother, a bottle of wine, a stupid joke, a late night table and think:“There’s a story here.”
And then know exactly how to tell it.
So… who are we?
We are Pittagoras, Seriously Greek. We make Greek Gyros \& Souvlaki. But if your understanding of our brand stops at *“Greek restaurant in London”*, you probably haven't looked closely enough.
We have a personality.
We have a point of view.
We have things we care about.
We have things we don't care about.
And we absolutely do not want our social media to look like every other restaurant in London.
THE ROLE:
We are looking for a Social Media \& Marketing person to take ownership of how Pittagoras shows up in the world.
That means social media, content, campaigns, ideas, collaborations, community, storytelling and whatever else you think will make the brand stronger.
You will be expected to think, not just execute.
We don't want:“Here's today's post.” We want:“I have an idea.”
You'll be working closely with the people behind Pittagoras, so this is not a role where you disappear into a marketing department and send us a monthly report with the words *engagement*, *reach* and *brand awareness* repeated 47 times.
We want someone who notices things. Someone curious. Someone with taste. Someone with opinions. And, ideally, someone who knows when their opinion is wrong.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You should probably:
- Understand social media beyond knowing how to use Instagram.
- Know how to create content that people actually want to watch.
- Understand brands, not just algorithms.
- Have a strong sense of tone, visual identity and storytelling.
- Be comfortable taking initiative.
- Be able to turn an idea into something real.
- Understand London culture and the London hospitality scene.
- Have experience managing social media and/or marketing for brands, ideally food, hospitality, lifestyle or culture.
- Have a portfolio or examples of work you can show us.
- Be able to tell the difference between something that is trendy and something that is actually good.
BUT HERE'S THE IMPORTANT PART
We don't want a cover letter telling us that you're:“passionate about social media.” Everyone is.
We don't want:“I have excellent communication skills.” Wonderful.
We don't want:“I believe I would be a great fit for this role.” Maybe.
But you'll have to prove it. Instead, answer these questions. Be honest. Be specific. Be a little bit cheeky if that's who you are. We would much rather read something interesting and slightly uncomfortable than something perfectly polished and completely meaningless.
1\. Why Pittagoras?
Not “why this role”.
Why us?
Why would you choose to spend your time making Pittagoras bigger, louder, funnier, more recognisable or more interesting?
2\. What do you think Pittagoras is actually selling? And please don't say “Greek food”.What do you think people are really buying when they choose Pittagoras?
3\. What was the first thing you noticed about us?The real answer. Not the answer you think we want.
4\. What fascinates you about Pittagoras?Something about the food?
The people?
The brand?
The Greekness?
The humour?
The atmosphere?
The ambition? Tell us what grabbed you.
5\. What don't you like about Pittagoras?Yes.We are actually asking you this.Tell us something you would change, challenge or improve. We won't be offended. Probably.
6\. If Pittagoras were a person at a party, who would they be? What are they wearing? Who are they talking to? What are they drinking? What are they definitely not doing?
7\. What should Pittagoras NEVER become? Give us three things you would never want to see on our social media.
8\. Who do you think Pittagoras is for?Tell us who you believe our customer is.And tell us who isn't our customer.
9\. What do you think our positioning is? Where do you think Pittagoras sits within London's food, hospitality and lifestyle scene?Don't give us marketing jargon.Give us your actual interpretation.
10\. Show us your work.Which brands, restaurants, businesses or people have you worked with? What did you actually do? And what happened because of your work? We'd like to see your portfolio.
11\. What's the best thing you've ever made? And, equally importantly:What's something in your portfolio you look at now and think, “I could do that much better today”?
12\. Imagine we give you £0\.No paid advertising. No influencers. No agency. No giant production budget. You have Pittagoras, your phone and your brain. What would you do over the next 30 days?
13\. You have one month to make more people in London know Pittagoras exists. What's your first move?Give us three ideas. Not a 20\-page strategy.Three good ideas.
14\. What would you be excited to work on at Pittagoras? Not what sounds impressive. What would genuinely make you think: “I'd love to do that.”
15\. And finally…Convince us you didn't apply by accident.Tell us something about Pittagoras that you couldn't possibly have written if you had only read the job description.
WHAT YOU GET
You get to work closely with the people behind the brand. You get genuine creative freedom. You get a brand with a personality. You get a lot of Greek food. You get the opportunity to build something rather than simply maintain something. And you get a team that would rather hear a great idea than another PowerPoint about “content pillars”.
WHAT WE DON'T WANT
Someone who needs to be told what to post every morning. Someone who thinks social media is just posting pretty pictures. Someone who copies whatever another restaurant is doing. Someone who thinks “viral” is a strategy. Someone who is afraid to have an opinion. Someone who wants a job title more than they want to build a brand.
WHAT WE DO WANT
Someone who sees Pittagoras and thinks: “I know what I could do with this.”
If that's you, we want to hear from you. And if you can make us laugh, surprise us, disagree with us or make us see Pittagoras slightly differently…even better.
Apply with your CV, portfolio and your answers to the questions above.Seriously Greek. Seriously curious.
