Duties and Responsibilities
The international Trade Centre is the joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, which provides technical assistance and capacity building to policymakers, the private sector and trade and investment support organisations to help them use trade as an engine for sustainable growth and employment generation. ITC works to support the achievement of the sustainable Development Goals by connecting micro, small and medium enterprises to global value chains. By enabling small business export success in developing countries, ITC helps generate sustainable incomes and livelihoods, especially for women and youth while taking into consideration sustainable elements such as the environment and social responsibility. This opportunity is designed for interns to work with experienced communications professionals. Under the overall supervision of the Associate Public Information Officer and the Senior Public Information Officer, the intern will be performing a variety of tasks, subject to the team’s workload and priorities at the time of the internship, including: • Assist in planning and producing content (text, illustration, photo and video) for ITC’s social media accounts daily; • Compile and report ITC’s social media analytics for research purposes; • Liaise with technical colleagues to develop ideas for content creation; • Support the development and implementation of visibility and advocacy campaigns, for social media and media; and • Support on media outreach, including identification of influential trade bloggers/influencers/journalists, and conduct related research, ahead of the Global SME Ministerial Meeting in 2027 • Support the media assistant on daily media briefings, as needed • Carry out other tasks as required. Qualifications/special skills
a) Be enrolled in the final academic year of the first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or b) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation. Skills • Strong journalistic writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt content tone, style, and format for both web articles and various social media platforms. • Basic knowledge in camera operation for photography and videography, including familiarity with mirrorless cameras or mobile journalism equipment. • Working knowledge of multimedia production software, specifically for graphic design (e.g., Canva, Photoshop) and video editing (e.g., Premiere Pro, CapCut). • Basic understanding of journalistic ethics, news gathering, and fact\-checking practices.
Languages
Advanced knowledge of English is required. Working knowledge of French and/or other UN language(s) is desirable.
