As we continue to invest in our infrastructure and asset performance, we are looking for a Signalling Production and Reliability Engineer to join our Engineering team and play a key role in maintaining and improving the performance of one of the UK's most innovative railways.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Signalling Engineer, you will provide technical engineering support, asset performance analysis and reliability expertise across the DLR signalling infrastructure.
This is a highly analytical and hands\-on engineering role, combining signalling asset management, failure investigation, performance reporting and project delivery. You will work closely with maintenance, response, installation and asset management teams to improve reliability, reduce failures and support the safe operation of the railway.
You will also lead the planning and implementation of signalling workstreams during engineering closures, manage signalling asset data and contribute to future asset renewal and improvement programmes.
What You'll Do
- Analyse signalling failures, data logs and remote monitoring systems to identify trends and improve reliability.
- Produce and maintain signalling performance reports, asset dashboards and failure analysis.
- Manage signalling asset information, configuration control and maintenance activities within the Asset Management System.
- Plan and deliver weekend engineering closures and major signalling workstreams.
- Scope, develop and implement signalling improvement initiatives and asset replacement programmes.
- Support maintenance and response teams with high\-level technical investigations and engineering expertise.
- Manage signalling asset life models, including points, relays and cable testing programmes.
- Conduct technical audits, safety inspections and asset assurance activities.
- Install, test and commission signalling modifications and minor infrastructure projects.
- Produce technical documentation including reports, specifications, procedures, method statements and risk assessments.
- Attend planning, possession and engineering review meetings.
Essential
- Significant experience within a railway signalling engineering environment.
- Thorough knowledge of railway signalling systems and maintenance practices.
- Experience undertaking technical investigations, failure analysis and asset performance reporting.
- Experience using asset management systems and engineering databases.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and reporting tools.
- Ability to produce technical reports, standards, procedures, specifications, risk assessments and method statements.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both frontline teams and senior stakeholders.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- HNC, HND or Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- SMTH or IRSE licence, or evidence of working towards accreditation.
- Membership of IRSE or similar professional institution.
- Working towards EngTech, IEng or CEng status.
- Knowledge of computer systems architecture, networking, Windows or Linux environments.
- Experience with remote condition monitoring and signalling analysis tools.
