Shift Operations Manager

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Shift Operations Manager to oversee our operations at our Chesterfield location. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all site activities are conducted efficiently, safely, and in accordance with company policies. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

This role is part of the new operational management structure at Magnavale Chesterfield Ltd, created following a review of the site’s management layers. The Shift Operations Manager provides the primary leadership presence on shift, with direct accountability for the performance, safety, and welfare of the entire shift team.

Responsibility

Shift Leadership \& Management

• Have full responsibility for the management and performance of the shift, including deployment of all Team Leaders and operatives within agreed resource parameters.


• Manage effective communications across all departments to ensure that all personnel have the information required to carry out their tasks accurately and on time.


• Lead by example at all times, setting the standard for conduct, performance, and professionalism on shift.


• Motivate, support, and develop Team Leaders and operatives within remit; conduct back\-to\-work interviews and manage any disciplinary matters at first\-line level.


• Be flexible in time management to meet challenging operational requirements and support business growth.

• Liaise with operatives, Shift Team Leaders, and the Site Manager to co\-ordinate all coldstore activities across the shift.


• Liaise with the administration function and transport providers; take corrective actions within the store as necessary.


• Co\-ordinate the unloading and storing of deliveries, including handballing of containers or product as required.


• Co\-ordinate the correct picking, loading, and despatching of all orders.


• Ensure that extra work is not undertaken on loads without agreement for additional charges.


• Be a super\-user for the site handheld scanner system.


• Provide information to the Site Manager to allow for the correct reporting of agreed KPIs.


• Carry out duties in such a way as to protect the integrity of products within the care of the Company at all times.

• Raise awareness of, and ensure full compliance with, all H\&S, legal, quality, and safety standards on shift.


• Take a key role in implementing, maintaining, communicating, and co\-ordinating food safety and quality systems, ensuring the site meets or exceeds its legal obligations.


• Ensure that Critical Control Points (CCPs) are effectively monitored and that corrective actions are taken where necessary.


• Ensure the correct and proper use of all equipment, machinery, and MHE by all operatives; operate all MHE within personal training capabilities and company authorisation.


• Using the non\-conformance procedure, report and, where required, take ownership of any damages or defects to property or work equipment.


• Be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the coldstore and all other operational areas; undertake and direct regular hygiene duties.


• Monitor and adhere to document control and records management across the Company in respect of all quality or H\&S related documents.


• Attend HACCP, H\&S, and operational review meetings as required.


• Ensure that suitable and sufficient risk assessments, safe systems of work, and work instructions are in place for all work areas within remit.


• Understand, adhere to, and actively promote the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS) and Health and Safety (H\&S) systems.

Pay: From £40,000\.00 per year
