Sewing Machinist

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and skilled sewing machinist to join the small production team at Laird Hatters / Christys’ London in Colliers End, Hertfordshire.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing British hat business with a strong heritage in cap making and a focus on bringing high\-quality production back to the UK.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating industrial sewing machines and carrying out a range of machining and manufacturing processes across our hat and headwear collections. Attention to detail, consistency and pride in workmanship are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating industrial sewing machines.


• Sewing and assembling components accurately to production specifications.


• Following patterns, production specifications and technical instructions.


• Maintaining consistent quality and finish across all products.


• Checking your own work to ensure products meet required quality standards.


• Working efficiently to meet production deadlines and targets.


• Keeping the work area clean, organised and safe.

Essential:

• Previous experience working as an industrial machinist.


• Strong sewing skills and experience using industrial sewing machines.


• Excellent attention to detail.


• Ability to work accurately and consistently to specifications.


• Good time management and ability to meet deadlines.


• A positive, practical and hands\-on approach to work.


• Basic English language.

Location: Colliers End, Hertfordshire
Salary: £26,500 \- £30,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: 24\-40 hours per week
Start Date: asap
