The Role
The Setting Out Engineer is responsible for accurately setting out and controlling the installation of fencing and associated civil engineering works in accordance with project drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and relevant standards. The role is to ensure that all fence alignments, levels, locations, and dimensions are established correctly to achieve compliance, quality, and programme objectives.

Key Responsibilities
We are looking for someone to:
- Setting Out: Translating civil design drawings onto the physical ground using GPS or total stations to ensure fence posts, gates, and boundary lines are positioned accurately.
We are looking for candidates with:
- Proven experience on major infrastructure projects.
- Strong planning, organisational and management skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Surveying, or related discipline.
- Good understanding of CDM Regulations and construction health and safety requirements.
- CSCS Card.
- SSMTS
- Good computer literacy including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Experience working within the HS2 supply chain.
- Knowledge of fencing, security fencing and perimeter protection systems.
- NEC contract awareness.
- Knowledge of quality management systems and quality assurance processes.
- Level and Boundary Verification: Checking site gradients, levels, and legal property boundaries before post installation or concrete pouring begins.
- Quality Assurance (QA): Inspecting materials (timber, steel, mesh, concrete), monitoring installation depths, and compiling quality documentation for compliance in accordance with client cloud based software systems requirements.
- Site Coordination: Liaising with principal contractors, project managers, and sub\-contractor teams to sequence fencing works alongside wider civil or groundworks packages.
- Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate site diaries, as\-built records, and progress reports.
