Senior Underground Mining Engineer
SRK Consulting is an independent, international consulting practice providing specialist services to the global mining industry. From our Cardiff office, our multidisciplinary teams support mining companies, investors, lenders, governments and insurers across a broad range of commodities and jurisdictions.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Underground Mining Engineer to join our Mining team in Cardiff. This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging projects across the full mining project lifecycle, from early\-stage studies through to feasibility studies, technical due diligence and operational support.
The role offers exposure to international projects, direct collaboration with globally recognised specialists, and the opportunity to take ownership of client relationships and project delivery within a collaborative and supportive environment.
Role
As a Senior Underground Mining Engineer, you will contribute to and/or lead a range of mining studies and consulting assignments for clients across the global mining sector.
Job Description
As a Senior Underground Mining Engineer, the primary role is to provide competent consulting services to support SRK projects and clients. The role involves:
- Working as part of multi\-disciplinary SRK teams providing input on a wide range of project studies.
- Lead underground mine planner including optimisation, mining method assessment, mine design, scheduling, waste management, dewatering, equipment selection and cost estimation.
- Contribution to mining studies from scoping to feasibility level.
- Representing SRK to client management and interfacing at all levels with the client’s management and operations.
- Business development, including the generation of business from new and existing clients.
- Dynamic part of the SRK team with responsibilities for supporting management and mentoring of junior staff.
- Degree or equivalent in a mining subject with relevant practical and operational experience gained in a mining environment.
- Proficient use of mine optimisation and planning software at a high level of competency (Deswik, Surpac and/or Datamine preferred).
- Multi\-commodity experience preferably in both metalliferous and bulk commodities.
- Proven track record of industry experience including mine operational and technical positions.
- Member of a recognised professional organisation. Chartered status from a recognised professional association would be an advantage.
- Competent Person for Ore Reserve reporting would be an advantage.
- Excellent report and proposal writing and strong English language skills (verbal and written).
