Senior Technical Designer

We are looking for a driven, organised and detail\-oriented Senior Technical Designer to join our multidisciplinary team. Bridging the gap between concept design and manufacture, you will develop detailed technical drawings and specifications that balance true creative engagement with real\-world practicality.
Key responsibilities
- Attend site visits and undertake measured surveys.
- Develop concepts into detailed technical designs, generating exhibit drawings, plans (GAs and RCPs), sections and elevations that bring together spatial, graphic, audio\-visual and lighting design.
- Create materials palettes and finish schedules.
- Coordinate with external design teams and subcontractors to ensure proposals are accurate and compliant, including with architects, M\&E and structural consultants.
- Ensure all outputs meet relevant industry regulations and standards.
- Prepare and present design packs to internal and client teams.
- Track submissions, feedback and approvals to maintain programme, supplying timely and well\-organised information on procurement and manufacture to the delivery team.
- Collate site works packs, Operations and Maintenance manuals, and information in support of planning applications.
- Help to prototype and test ideas to resolve design challenges and inform final specifications.
- Carry out object surveys, produce case layouts and detail mount design methods.
- Assist with the creation of in\-house standards, templates, processes and procedures.
- Brief and manage subcontract technical designers, when required during peak capacity.
- A methodical approach, precision and attention to detail.
- The ability to process tasks, ensure accuracy and minimise errors.
- Experience of Sketchup and Solidworks design software.
- A good understanding of production and manufacture methods and specifications.
- Experience of electrical, AV and mechanical specifications and drawing principles.
- The ability to think analytically and solve complex design challenges.
- Experience of explaining technical drawings and specifications in simple terms to help secure approval from clients and stakeholders.
- 5\+ years of experience working in a similar role delivering fit\-out projects and detailed drawing packages.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience of working within the RIBA plan of work.
- Experience with BIM workflows and documentation.
- Knowledge of the museum sector, conservation standards and good practice.
- Full driving license and own vehicle to enable regular travel to meetings and site.
- Salary £45,000 \- £55,000 dependant on experience.
