The structural engineer is part of the mechanical engineering team and will work closely with design engineers, technical coordinators and class representatives. The work will mainly be in the early stages of the engineering process and focusing on overall design/layout, structural design and analysis. We are seeking someone with strong analytical abilities, who can apply those abilities in taking products from basic concepts to something that will function in the real world.
Duties and responsibilitiesProduct development – including selection of components, finding new solutions or optimizing existing solutionsPerforming design of steel structuresCarry out structural calculations and analysis to document global- and local structural capacityProvide inputs to other engineers for performing structural calculationsQuality control of structural calculations and designEnsure structural integrity on designed products are according to customer and class requirementsResponsibility for making, following and complying with structural specificationsQualificationsUniversity degree (Msc) in mechanical engineering or equivalent5-10 years of relevant experienceExperience with design of steel structuresRelevant software experience (Ansys, Inventor, beam element programs, Mathcad, Excel etc)Experience with strength calculation and code check of truss and frame structuresExperience with offshore standards (DNV, ABS, BV etc)Solid mathematical skillsSEAONICS works systematically for inclusion and diversity and encourage everyone to apply, even if your competence does not match 100% the above.SEAONICS works systematically for inclusion and diversity and encourage everyone to apply, even if your competence does not match 100% the above.
