Job summary
Ofgem works on behalf of energy consumers to ensure every household and business in the UK can rely on a safe, affordable and environmentally sustainable energy supply. Following the recent government review of the regulator, these roles will play a central part in shaping our future direction, as we undergo one of the most significant changes in how we work and regulate in two decades.
These roles offer a unique opportunity to contribute to Ofgems strategy at a pivotal time, with a focus on developing and delivering an organising framework to define the future scope of energy system regulation, alongside new regulatory tools.
You will work collaboratively to turn strategy into action, applying strong analytical and strategic thinking to complex and often ambiguous challenges. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to high\-impact work while working closely with colleagues across Directorates, senior leadership, DESNZ and external stakeholders.
Job description
You will play a key role in delivering major projects stemming from the Ofgem Review, supporting how the organisation evolves its regulatory approach and operations. Responsibilities include coordinating strategic activity, contributing to analysis and insight development, and supporting engagement with senior stakeholders. You will also help shape strategic outputs, including briefings, publications and recommendations that inform decision\-making.
This is an opportunity to work within a supportive and inclusive team environment, while also taking ownership of significant areas of work. You will be encouraged to bring new perspectives and contribute to innovative thinking that strengthens Ofgems impact.
These roles are based across two teams: Market Oversight and Enforcement (one fixed\-term position) and Strategy, Economics, Research and Net Zero (SERN) (three permanent positions), both working at the centre of Ofgems strategic development.
