JOB DESCRIPTION

Senior Residential Support Worker

Purpose: To assist the Registered Manager, to lead the home and provide Children’s Services in accordance with the 1989 Children Act and 2004 Children Acts, Organisation's Policies and Procedures, Environmental Health, OFSTED and LSCB. To provide a safe and homely environment to help young people achieve their potential by strengthening areas of weakness and developing areas of strength.

Responsible for: Residential Childcare Workers

Delivery of Services and Practice

1\.    Support the Registered Manager to develop and deliver high quality care in accordance with relevant legislation and regulations and the organisation’s policies and procedures, providing equal opportunities in a non\-discriminatory environment. Incorporating safeguarding responsibilities and adhering to Working Together to Safeguard Children 2013 legislation.

2\.    Adhere to all legislative guidelines in respect of safety and ensure that all staff have adequate working knowledge and training

3\.    Develop and maintain appropriate records and implement monitoring and evaluation systems.

4\.    Support continuous improvement and the implementation of new techniques and approaches to childcare provision.

5\.    Take on\-call responsibilities on a rota basis

6\.    With the Registered Manager, develop and facilitate training on current relevant issues pertinent to young people in our care.

7\.    Develop and promote education in line with the organisation’s school and educational policy.

8\.    To act as a member of the team and assist the management in giving the highest standard of care possible to all the children/young people at Flourish Children’s services, closely following individual plans, risk assessments and programmes in place.

9\.    To understand the importance of the need for confidentiality in all client matters at all times

10\.   To act as a role model in conjunction with colleagues to ensure yours and their welfare and create a safe, clean and secure environment for all children/young people and relatives.

11\.   Act accountably as a resource and role model for the junior staff and the children.

12\.    Adopt a forward\-thinking approach to care provided and act as the children’s advocate in conjunction with the junior staff.

13\.   To work in a variety of settings if needed, in order to support the children e.g. in the child’s family home, educational setting and activity setting etc.

14\.   To develop skills in order that the child’s individual health, social, emotional and psychological development needs are met.

15\.   To provide support, advice and information to the children, parents and other carers as required.

16\.   Demonstrate an awareness of child development and the child’s need for appropriate cognitive age play, adhering to the rostered activity rota.

17\.   To act as a driver/escort for the child if needed.

18\.   Once trained to provide and carry out clinical duties necessary to meet the child/young people’s health needs on a daily basis.

19\.   Accountable for petty cash while on duty and adhere to the company policy and procedure.

20\.   Organise time management to accommodate rostered activities and intensive interaction for the shift.

21\.   To complete supervisions for allocated staff in line with policy and procedure.

22\.   Identify training requirements for members of the team and actively support team members to develop within their role.

23\.   To undertake any other duties reasonably requested by the Management.

24\.   To take overall responsibility in ensuring the running of the home is to its highest possible standard, coordinating the shift, allocating child supervision and prioritising care.

Staff Management:

1\.    With the Registered Manager, ensure an appropriate induction programme is provided to new members of staff in line with the organisation’s policies.

2\.    Participate in team meetings, workshops and clinical supervisions.

3\.    Assist the Registered Manager to manage staff conduct, performance and behaviour in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures.

Management of Physical and Financial Resources:

1\.    Assist the Registered Manager to manage all financial transactions.

2\.    Assist with the maintenance of the service premises and equipment to meet the required standards.

External Affairs

Promote the organisation in a positive way with external agencies, other professionals and members of the general public as required.

Job Type: Full\-time

Pay: £14\.50\-£16\.00 per hour
