About the Role

Are you an experienced Residential Children's Care Worker looking to take the next step in your career?

We're looking for a dedicated and passionate Team Leader to help lead a residential children's home, supporting both young people and staff to achieve the very best outcomes.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands\-on with children and young people whilst also developing their leadership skills. You'll play a key role in running shifts, supporting the staff team, maintaining high standards of care, and ensuring the home provides a safe, nurturing, and positive environment where young people can thrive.

You'll be the person staff turn to for guidance, the person young people trust for support, and someone who leads by example every day.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Team Leader, you'll combine direct work with young people alongside leadership responsibilities, including:

  • Leading and coordinating staff throughout each shift

  • Acting as the senior member of staff on duty

  • Supporting, mentoring, and developing Residential Care Workers

  • Delivering reflective supervisions and supporting staff performance

  • Contributing to audits, quality assurance, and service development

  • Ensuring safeguarding practices are consistently followed

  • Supporting care planning, risk assessments, and behaviour support plans

  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring regulatory compliance

  • Working closely with families, social workers, education providers, and other professionals

  • Supporting the management team to deliver outstanding care
Making a Difference Every Day

This role is about far more than managing a shift.

It's about helping young people develop confidence, resilience, independence, and life skills that will support them throughout adulthood.

You'll support young people to:

  • Develop independent living skills

  • Build confidence and self\-esteem

  • Achieve educational and personal goals

  • Manage challenges and overcome barriers

  • Develop healthy routines and relationships

  • Access opportunities and experiences that help them grow
You'll celebrate achievements, support them through difficult times, and help create the stability and consistency they need to succeed.

No Two Days Are The Same

One day you could be leading a team meeting, completing supervisions, and attending professional meetings.

The next, you could be supporting a young person with their education, accompanying them on an activity, helping them prepare for independence, or celebrating an important milestone in their life.

You'll be actively involved in planning activities, creating opportunities, and ensuring young people experience the kind of positive memories, adventures, and achievements every child deserves.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (required)

  • Previous experience working within a Residential Children's Home

  • Leadership or senior\-level experience within residential childcare

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child\-centred practice

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • Ability to motivate, guide, and support a staff team

  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, sleep\-ins, and participate in an on\-call rota
Desirable:
  • Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification or working towards

  • Knowledge of Ofsted regulations and standards

  • Full UK Driving Licence
What You'll Receive
  • Salary of £33,539 per annum

  • Sleep\-in payments of £60 per sleep\-in

  • Opportunity to earn up to an additional £5,760 per year through sleep\-ins

  • Additional payments for participation in the on\-call rota

  • Comprehensive training and ongoing professional development

  • Career progression opportunities into Deputy Manager and Registered Manager positions

  • Supportive management team

  • Employee wellbeing support and assistance programmes

  • Retail, travel and leisure discounts

  • Cycle to Work Scheme

  • Life cover and additional employee benefits
This is an opportunity to join a service where your leadership can genuinely shape the lives of young people and support a team committed to delivering exceptional care.

If you're ready to take the next step in your residential childcare career and want to be part of something truly rewarding, we'd love to hear from you.
