Children’s Residential Support Worker

Location: Hollydene Children’s Home, Stockport
Salary: £36840 per year
Hours: 40 hours per week (including shifts and sleep\-ins)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker to join our established team at Hollydene Children’s Home.

Hollydene provides a safe, stable, and nurturing residential environment for children and young people of either gender, aged 5–17, who present with Learning Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Impairment, and other associated complex needs.

In partnership with local authorities, we provide long\-term residential care, ensuring each placement is carefully planned, appropriately matched, and reviewed to meet the individual needs, age, and developmental functioning of the young people living at the home.

The Young People We Support

At Hollydene, we support children and young people with a wide range of needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Conditions

  • Moderate to severe learning difficulties

  • Global developmental delay

  • Sensory impairment

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Specific language and communication difficulties

  • Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high\-quality, child\-centred care in a residential setting

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare, safety, and emotional well\-being of each child

  • Implement and follow individualised care plans and behaviour support strategies

  • Build positive, trusting relationships through consistent, empathetic, and clear communication

  • Support children with daily routines, education, activities, and life skills development

  • Assist with transportation to school, appointments, and community activities

  • Maintain accurate and timely records, reports, and documentation

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, managers, families, and external professionals
Essential Requirements

To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of two years experience working with chidlren with learning disabilities in a Children's Residential Home

  • Right to Work in the UK (we are unable to offer visa sponsorship – Indefinite Leave to Remain required)

  • Full manual UK driving licence

  • Aged 25 or over (to meet insurance requirements)

  • Held a driving licence for at least 2 years

  • 6 points or fewer on licence

  • Willingness to work shifts and sleep\-ins

  • Ability to complete a robust safer recruitment process, including enhanced DBS and references
Qualifications (Required)

You will hold one of the following:

  • Level 4 Diploma in Children, Young People and Families Practitioner

  • Level 4 Diploma in Children and Young People Workforce

  • NVQ Level 3 Health \& Social Care (Children and Young People)
Salary \& Benefits
  • £36,840

  • Hourly rate £14\.25p/h

  • Two sleep\-ins per week paid at £60 per sleep\-in
*(Sleep\-ins are non\-contractual and allocated fairly based on the needs of the home)*
