With continued growth, an expanding project portfolio and exciting plans for the future, they are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their Commercial team and play an important role in supporting the ongoing development of the business.
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Senior Quantity Surveyor to take responsibility for the commercial and contractual management of construction projects from initial stages through to final account.
Working closely with the wider Commercial and Operational teams, you will take ownership of project financial performance, including budgeting, procurement, valuations, cost reporting, subcontractor management, variations and final accounts.
The role will require a strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial risk, with the ability to identify opportunities, manage costs effectively and provide clear and accurate commercial information throughout the project lifecycle.
You will work collaboratively with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams to support the successful delivery of projects while protecting the commercial interests of the business.

Duties
Lead the commercial management of allocated projects from pre\-construction and contract award through delivery, final account and close\-out.
- Prepare, review and manage project budgets, cost plans, cash\-flow forecasts, cost\-value reconciliations (CVRs) and commercial forecasts, ensuring the Group Commercial Manager receives accurate and timely information.
- Provide robust commercial reporting on project performance, including actual and forecast margin, cost\-to\-complete, committed costs, risk, opportunity, variations, cash position and final account status.
- Review contract documents, scopes, specifications and tender information; identify commercial, contractual and financial risks and ensure appropriate actions are agreed before and during delivery.
- Manage interim applications, valuations, payment notices, subcontractor payments, variations, compensation events and final accounts in accordance with contractual timescales.
- Ensure variations and changes are identified early, properly instructed where required, accurately valued, evidenced and progressed through to agreement and recovery.
- Lead subcontract procurement for allocated packages, including enquiry documentation, tender analysis, negotiation, recommendations, orders and ongoing subcontract account management.
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure labour, plant, materials, subcontract and preliminaries costs are controlled against budget and emerging overspends are challenged promptly.
- Maintain accurate commercial records and audit trails, including instructions, quotations, correspondence, site records, notices, measurements and supporting evidence.
- Attend project, client and commercial meetings and provide clear advice on contractual entitlement, commercial risk, payment and change management.
- Support the preparation and negotiation of claims, loss and expense, extensions of time and other contractual submissions where applicable, working with the wider project team.
- Drive timely agreement of project final accounts and subcontract final accounts, ensuring all recoverable value is secured and liabilities are properly closed.
- Undertake project reviews and commercial health checks, escalating material risks, deteriorating margins, disputes or cash\-flow concerns to the Group Commercial Manager.
- Support tendering and pre\-construction activity through cost analysis, value engineering, procurement advice, risk review, benchmarking and lessons learned from live projects.
- Provide commercial input into client negotiations and support the development of strong, professional client and supply\-chain relationships.
- Mentor and support Assistant Quantity Surveyors and Quantity Surveyors, reviewing work as appropriate and helping develop consistent commercial standards across the business.
- Ensure commercial activities comply with the Group procedures, delegated authorities, contractual requirements and relevant legislation.
- Promote collaboration between Commercial, Operations, Finance, Procurement and HSEQ to ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly, profitably and to the required quality standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of commercial processes, templates, reporting, cost data and lessons learned across the Group.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in large\-scale construction projects
- Exceptional cost control skills with the ability to analyse financial data critically
- Strong understanding of contractual frameworks such as NEC, JCT, or FIDIC
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills to liaise confidently with stakeholders at all levels
- Detail\-oriented with excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Demonstrable experience of CVRs, forecasting, procurement, valuations, variations, cost control and final accounts.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project cash flow, margin, risk and contractual entitlement.
- Competent user of Microsoft Excel and standard commercial/project management systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in driving strong commercial performance through effective cost management, financial control and collaborative working with clients, subcontractors and internal teams.

Pay: £50,000\.00\-£75,000\.00 per year
